These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Mara Candles website and the purchase of products through our webshop. By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms.
Our webshop is intended for customers residing in the European Union. These Terms are governed by Dutch law and comply with EU consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).

2. OUR PRODUCTS

All products sold by Mara Candles are handmade candles. We take care to accurately describe and photograph each product, but please be aware that:
Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen settings.
As handmade items, minor variations in appearance between individual candles are natural and part of what makes each piece unique.
Product availability is subject to change without notice.

3. PRICES AND PAYMENT

All prices displayed on our website are in Euros (€) and include VAT where applicable.
We reserve the right to change prices at any time. The price applicable to your order is the price shown at the time you place it.
Payment is processed securely through Squarespace's integrated payment system. We accept the payment methods listed at checkout. We do not store your payment details.

4. ORDERING

When you place an order, you will receive an order confirmation email. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of your order but does not constitute acceptance. A binding agreement is formed when we dispatch your order and send you a shipping confirmation.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, for example if a product is out of stock, if a pricing error has occurred, or if we suspect fraudulent activity. If we cancel your order after payment, you will receive a full refund.

5. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY

We ship within the European Union only.
Estimated delivery times and shipping costs are displayed at checkout. Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. Mara Candles is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, customs, or circumstances outside our control.
Risk of loss and title for products pass to you upon delivery.

6. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL (COOLING-OFF PERIOD)

Under EU consumer law, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving your order, without giving any reason.
To exercise this right, notify us before the 14-day period expires by contacting us at info@marahandmade.nl with your order number and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw.
Once you have notified us, you must return the products to us within 14 days. Return shipping costs are at your expense unless otherwise stated.
Products must be returned unused, undamaged, and in their original packaging. We reserve the right to reduce your refund if the product has been handled beyond what is necessary to assess its nature and condition.
We will process your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned goods (or proof of return), using the same payment method as your original purchase.
Please note: the right of withdrawal does not apply to products that are clearly personalised or custom-made to your specifications.

7. RETURNS AND REFUNDS

If your order arrives damaged or defective, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at info@marahandmade.nl with your order number and photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you.
For returns under the right of withdrawal (see section 6), we will refund the full product price including the standard outbound shipping cost you paid. We will not refund premium shipping options if a cheaper option was available.

8. LEGAL GUARANTEE

As a consumer in the EU, you are entitled to a legal guarantee of conformity under the Consumer Sales Directive. If a product you receive does not conform to the description or is faulty, you have the right to have it repaired, replaced, or refunded. Please contact us as soon as possible if this is the case.

9. CANDLE SAFETY

Please read and follow all safety instructions provided with your candle. By purchasing our products, you acknowledge that:
Candles must never be left burning unattended.
Keep candles away from children, pets, flammable materials, and draughts.
Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface.
Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Keep the wick trimmed to approximately 5 mm before each use.
Mara Candles is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from failure to follow these safety guidelines.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
─────────────────────────────────────────────
To the maximum extent permitted by EU law, Mara Candles is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our products or website. Our liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the value of that order.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All content on our website — including product photography, text, branding, and design — is the property of Mara Candles and may not be reproduced or used without our prior written consent.

12. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
─────────────────────────────────────────────
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Dutch courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.
